Taylor Swift

Have you ever noticed how there is a Taylor Swift song to match your every mood?

Right now Amanda and I are sitting on the futon in the living room crying to the piano version of "Forever and Always" and "You're not Sorry" and belting out "You Belong with Me"...if someone was to look in our window right now they would most certainly think that we were insane.

One thing that guys might not know about girls, is that we ALWAYS over-analyze songs and decipher them so that they somehow match what we're going through. If we're listening to a sad song, most of the time you can just jump to the conclusion that we're doing some major boy-bashing.

Annnnnd this is now on repeat...

Once upon a time, I believe it was a Tuesday
When I caught your eye
We caught onto something, I hold on to the night
You looked me in the eye and told me you loved me
Were you just kidding? 'Cause it seems to me

This thing is breaking down, we almost never speak
I don't feel welcome anymore
Baby, what happened? Please tell me
'Cause one second it was perfect
Now you're halfway out the door

And I stare at the phone; he still hasn't called
And then you feel so low, you can't feel nothin' at all
And you flashback to when he said, forever and always
Oh, oh

And it rains in your bedroom, everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said forever and always

Was I out of line? Did I say something way too honest
Made you run and hide like a scared little boy?
I looked into your eyes, thought I knew you for a minute
Now I'm not so sure

So here's to everything, coming down to nothing
Here's to silence that cuts me to the core
Where is this going? Thought I knew for a minute
But I don't anymore

And I stare at the phone; he still hasn't called
And then you feel so low, you can't feel nothin' at all
And you flashback to when he said forever and always
Oh, oh

And it rains in your bedroom, everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said forever and always
You didn't mean it, baby, I don't think so
Oh, oh

Oh, back up, baby, back up, did you forget everything?
Back up, baby, back up, did you forget everything?

'Cause it rains in your bedroom, everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said forever and always

And I stare at the phone he still hasn't called
And then you feel so low, you can't feel nothin' at all
And you flashback to when we said forever and always!

And it rains in your bedroom, everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said forever and always
You didn't mean it, baby, you said forever and always,
Yeah

Amanda's favourite lyrics right now:
"If you could see that I'm the one who understands you, been here all along, so why can't you see you belong with me..."

WE LOVE YOU TAYLOR!

  1. I'm glad that this is one of your posts, Hilary. I think that makes it slightly less weird that I'm reviving it from almost two months ago.

Not being a connaisseur of Miss Swift myself, I googled the first two lines of lyrics posted above to find out how the song sounded. I opened this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNlfyBbgC_Q, which came of quite loud, so I turned it down and relegated it to a background tab while I continued to read through blog posts in preparation for my visit - which I know I've been talking about far more than Hilary for the obvious reason: "Hey, you know that play I'm going to on Friday? I just found out Hilary Duff's going to be there!" - when I got a text from my roommate:
"I like metric you can play it louder...." [sic]
Now, you must know that my roommate, in the past, has only ever expressed the greatest contempt for Miss Swift (Sorry Hil, Amanda), so you can imagine the glee I felt upon recieving the aforementioned message. I immmediately cranked my laptop's speakers, threw the video on fullscreen, and ran out to celebrate my roommate's change of heart. My roommate cringed, and then ran away when I tried to put her arm around the blown-up picture of Miss Swift for a photo op. This led to my chasing her around the kitchen (twice) and finally to the front door, where she turned around and tried to find my laptop's volume button as the song came to a close.

I don't know what we'd do if it weren't for that pretty little Miss Swift.
